NASA announces that a “potentially dangerous” space object will pass close to Earth on Thursday.
The asteroid, known as “1997 BQ”, which is traveling at 11,000 kilometers per second, has a size of 640 meters to 1.4 kilometers.
It can be compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in California in the United States.
“The asteroid orbits the Sun every 844 days and, when traveling to it, orbits the Earth twice and then travels to Mars,” explains NASA.
According to the agency that monitors asteroids, this object will pass in a proximity of 6.2 million kilometers from our planet on May 21.
This is the second space object to approach Earth this year, after another asteroid traveled to our planet on April 29.
